A Team Grows at North Berkeley

The North Berkeley team continues to grow and develop as we sharpen our professional skills and add new advisors to support our clients. Here are a few highlights from the past year:

New Team Members

In December, North Berkeley welcomed Kim Berger to our team of advisors! She joins us as an Associate Advisor, working with Lead Advisors to deliver comprehensive financial planning and investment management. Kim previously worked in the biotech industry, first as a scientist and then in business development. She brings sharp analytical skills, a warm sense of humor, and a desire to help and connect with others.

Professional Designations & Promotions

There was also noteworthy professional growth amongst our existing North Berkeley advisor team in 2023. Ariana Alisjahbana achieved her (Certified Financial Planner™) certification and was promoted to Lead Advisor. Carmetta Joyner also completed her CFP® certification and progressed from Associate to Lead Advisor. The Certified Financial Planner™ certification is awarded to those who complete an extensive curriculum of financial coursework, successfully complete the CFP® examination, and gain 4,000 hours of client service experience.

Daniel Smyth added to his existing expertise and certifications, receiving the Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®) designation in 2023. This certification focuses on strategies that can help clients navigate the challenges and opportunities that significant wealth brings. Daniel was also recognized by the Association of African American Financial Advisors on their annual Fifty Under 50 list of top advisors.

Lastly, our leadership team also developed over the past year. Brian Kozel and Sam Wood-Bednarz, both partners in the firm, moved into Senior Advisor roles, which tasks them with the professional development of our advisor team in addition to their work with clients.

A Culture of Growth

Since our inception in 2005, we’ve held professional development and growth of all team members as a guiding principle. It creates room for our team to expand our expertise, provides our clients with strong support, and promotes long-lasting relationships with our clients, our team, and our community.

We are proud of the accomplishments of our team and look forward to seeing how our firm develops and grows over the coming years!
