Dan Nakahara is our Business Manager and serves as a member of North Berkeley’s leadership team. He manages our financial planning, strategic planning, business accounting, human resources, and other essential aspects of running the firm.
Before joining North Berkeley, Dan was Controller for a local trucking company and before that Director of Finance for a local publishing company. His early career includes work in varied industries such as baking, screen-printing, and architectural glass. He has a BA and MA in Economics from Cal State East Bay.
Born in Oakland, raised in Piedmont, Dan has strong roots in the East Bay. He is a resident of Davis. He spends most of his time outside of work trying to keep up with his three sons, cooking, and enjoying local parks.

A defining moment of my career was being on the sell-side accounting team of a $20M merger. I was young and naïve, and the experience was both exhilarating and exhausting. I learned a lot about what I was capable of.
The best advice I ever received was: “No one on their death-bed ever looks back at their life and thinks: Gee, I wish I worked more overtime.” While my profession is a source of pride, life is short, and I don’t want to miss important moments because I was working too much.
